The Florida Board of Education has adopted standards for teaching that distort the record of the horrors of slavery.
Students should be allowed to learn the "full truth" of American history.
See for yourself what has been whitewashed, and what has been left out of the newly approved curriculum for African American history.
Under his watch, new standards for African American history were adopted that are an insult to historical accuracy and mislead students. Slavery is abhorrent; there has never been any benefit to the enslaved, only unspeakable horrors.

The first step to having your voice heard.
If you are already registered to vote, sign up to get Vote By Mail (same as "absentee ballot"). To sign up online, click HERE. Or call the Manatee County Supervisor of Elections at

Signing up to Vote By Mail is voting insurance. As our last election demonstrated, despite intense efforts to invalidate mail in ballots in various states, they proved to be a highly effective and safe way to vote.
"Ordinary people with extraordinary vision can redeem the soul of America by getting in what I call good trouble, necessary trouble. Voting and participating in the democratic process are key. The vote is the most powerful nonviolent change agent you have in a democratic society.
You must use it because it is not guaranteed.
You can lose it." - John Lewis, 1940-2020
